Notification Stages Chart

The California Independent System Operator (CAISO) operates PG&E's transmission system and is responsible for scheduling power generation to match expected demands. PG&E has established the following stages to notify our commercial and industrial customers of impending curtailments of power:

No action by Pacific Gas and Electric Company's customers is required at this time. If a Non-Firm operation becomes necessary, Pacific Gas and Electric Company will activate the non-firm notification system.
WarningThe California Independent System Operator (CAISO) has issued a Warning, which indicates that the operating reserves in the hour ahead market are forecasted to be less than the CAISO's Minimum Operating Reserves criteria. No action by Pacific Gas and Electric Company's customers is required at this time. If a Non-Firm operation becomes necessary, Pacific Gas and Electric Company will activate the non-firm notification system.
Stage 1 Emergency The California Independent System Operator (CAISO) has issued a STAGE 1 EMERGENCY which indicates that the operating reserves in the real-time market are forecasted to be less than the CAISO Minimum Operating Reserves criteria. There is a potential for a Non-Firm operation. All Pacific Gas and Electric Company customers are requested to VOLUNTARILY curtail nonessential electric loads.
