  Introduction

Welcome to our fourth issue of "The PG&E Wire", developed as a means to increase the level of communication between PG&E and our wireless customers. We hope that you find this newsletter a worthwhile addition to the information you receive through your regular contact with us.

Nick Petrakis - Business Development's Lead Manager

We would like to introduce Nick Petrakis who joined the group in August 2004. Nick replaces our former lead, Toby Tyler. Nick began his career with PG&E in 1990 as a telecom engineer in PG&E's Computer and Telecommunications Department. There he worked on a variety of projects in LAN/WAN, microwave and facility design areas. Since then, Nick has worked in various capacities such as system engineer for PG&E's telecom transmission system (microwaves and fiber optics) and developer of the 5 year strategic plans for the telecom transmission system in support of critical electric operations, data centers and call center connectivity. He also led one of the largest telecom transmission backbone projects. His last assignment before coming to Business Development was serving as acting director of PG&E's Telecommunications Infrastructure Department. Nick is enjoying working with our wireless customers and is looking forward to meeting you in person.

Nick is married to wife Elaine and has two boys, Konstantine 8 and Dimitri 7. They enjoy numerous outdoor activities and have a variety of hobbies.

   Account Manager Profile

This quarter we are featuring Deanna Toy. Deanna Toy joined Telecom Business Development in 1997 and helped draft one of the first wireless master license agreements. Seven years of special assignments at PG&E and two kids later, Deanna is thrilled to be part of the Telecom Business Development team once again. She will be focusing her efforts in strengthening Telecom Business Development's relationship with its wireless customers. Deanna is one of three account managers in Client Relations who works with customers on contractual issues, internal processes and policies, and anything else that helps smooth the road to success for Telecom Business Development's customers. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking in the Marin Headlands, snowboarding, and hanging out with her family.

   Jurisdiction Outreach Update

On April 13, Lori Austin and Scott Loveless from Client Relations showcased our wireless siting program at the California League of Cities Planners' Expo in Pasadena. The primary audience was city planners and planning commissioners from around the state. Scott and Lori enjoyed the chance to speak with planners and commissioners from over forty jurisdictions. We are following up on requests for PG&E to make formal presentations on its program to various city councils and planning commissions.

Our next stop will be the California League of Cities Annual Conference and Expo in October at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. In the meantime, we will continue to reach out to cities and counties about our Wireless Siting Program. If you have any questions about our jurisdictional outreach program, feel free to contact Deanna Toy at 415-973-3362 or dct4@pge.com.

   We're Ready

As we mentioned in our last issue of The PG&E Wire, 2005 will be exceptionally busy for us and for our customers. To meet the increasing demand, we have added two new project managers, two new account managers and two more project coordinators to make sure that we are fully staffed to support your needs. Again, remember to turn in your PG&E forms sooner than later! Submittal of your Site Application Forms (SAF) to your Business Development representative, and applications for electric service to the appropriate service planning office, will help to prevent any unwelcome surprises toward the end of the year. And speaking of service planning………….

New Dedicated Service Planning Group for Wireless Customers

In March 2005, PG&E established a work group that is assigned to manage service planning estimating for telecommunications customers. We anticipate that the group will significantly reduce the amount of time required to provide design and cost estimating services to your telecommunications facilities and ultimately shorten the time needed to energize your sites.

Currently, the group manages new business applications for estimating services in the following counties:

  • Alameda
  • Contra Costa
  • Marin
  • Napa
  • San Francisco
  • San Mateo
  • Santa Clara
  • Solano
  • Sonoma

Ultimately, PG&E plans to manage all service planning estimating for wireless customers (and all other telecommunications customers) throughout PG&E's service territory from this office.

Please submit all of your company's new business applications in these counties to Ed Gillen, Estimating Supervisor, at 1320 El Capitan Drive, Danville, CA 94526. Ed can be reached via e-mail at epg1@pge.com and via telephone at (925) 866-5447.
