Residential New Construction Program

Builders of single family homes within PG&E's service area can apply for financial incentives for maximizing the energy efficiency of their new homes. Energy efficient features may be individually added to homes through the Prescriptive Option, or builders can upgrade to the California ENERGY STAR® New Homes Program by meeting the specifications of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

ENERGY STAR® Performance Method

This option is available to builders of single family homes that are at least 15 percent more energy efficient than required by the 2005 Title 24 Energy Code and meet all EPA specifications. Participating builders become part of the California ENERGY STAR New Homes Program, and their homes earn the prestigious ENERGY STAR label. Incremental incentives can be earned by adding energy efficient appliances and/or lighting to homes.

New Solar Homes Partnership Performance Method

This option is available to builders of single family homes that are at least 15% more efficient than required by Title 24. A second tier of participation is available to builders of single family homes that exceed Title 24 by 35%, demonstrate a 40% reduction in cooling load, and include solar generation as an option for buyers. Additionally, both tiers require that all appliances provided by the builder must be ENERGY STAR qualified. Participating builders may qualify for additional solar incentives through the CEC's New Solar Homes Partnership.

Prescriptive Method

This option allows builders not participating in either of the above methods to upgrade one or more specific prescriptive features for homes within their developments. An incentive will be paid for each qualifying feature that is not used to meet the 2005 Title 24 baseline.
