Architects and Design Teams
Workshops and Training
You can learn about the latest energy efficiency options and how they can help you design and construct a high performance, energy-efficient building through classes offered by PG&E. All classes are free-of-charge; however, registration is required.
Online Education Resources
Energy Design Resources offers a wide array of education resources from design briefs on energy-efficient measures to design guidelines, a newsletter, and case studies.
Cash Incentives for Architects
Cash incentives are available up to $50,000 (owner incentive maximum is $150,000, but design team incentive maximum is $50,000) per project to reward architects who meet ambitious energy efficiency targets.
Design Assistance
PG&E offers two resources to gain assistance on designing your high-performance energy-efficient facility.
Savings By Design provides information and analysis tailored to the needs of your project to help you design the most efficient building possible.
The Pacific Energy Center offers several resources on the topic of daylighting including a daylight models exhibit, factsheets, books on daylighting, PEC staff for daylight model testing and consultations, and information about building daylight models.
Incentives for your customer: Financial incentives up to $150,000 per project are available to owners when the efficiency of the new building exceeds the minimum Savings By Design thresholds, generally 10% better than Title 24 standards. These incentives encourage owners to make energy efficiency a major goal in their new buildings, and help to defray some of the costs of energy efficient building components.
Self-Generation Incentive Program
Your new construction projects can also receive incentives for generating their own power in parallel with the electric system grid (not back-up generation). To receive these incentives the system must meet program requirements. PG&E is available to help you throughout the process. For more information about these programs visit the Self-Generation Incentive program pages.
Demand Response Programs
PG&E also has incentives for customers to reduce electric power use when the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) determines that the state's energy supplies are low. For more information about these programs visit the Demand Response program pages.
