SmartAC™ Program for Small Business

It's easy for your small business to do something good for California and your community. When you sign up your business for PG&E's SmartAC program, you'll be helping to prevent power interruptions in case of a local or state energy supply emergency. Plus, you'll also help control costs and protect the environment from harmful pollution by alleviating the need to build power plants that would be utilized only to satisfy occasional peaks in demand.

Requirements


  • Central air conditioner or heat pump in suitable operating condition
  • Own the property or have written permission from the owner/manager to participate in the SmartAC program

Steps to Sign Up

NOTE: If you are the property owner, sign up online.
If you are renting/leasing your small business space, please follow the steps below.

  1. Download and print the SmartAC Brochure (PDF, 192 KB) and the Owner Authorization Form (PDF, 332 KB)
  2. Ask your landlord to complete and sign the authorization form, and give them a copy of the brochure
  3. Sign up online or call 1-866-908-4916
  4. Give the signed authorization form to the PG&E installer who installs or activates your SmartAC device

PG&E will install your SmartAC switch or SmartAC thermostat at no cost to you or the owner, and you'll automatically receive PG&E's free unlimited technical support and customer services while participating in the program.
