PeakChoice Committed Plan Details

Participants receive guaranteed monthly incentives for committing to reduce electricity consumption when called upon.

The higher your commitment, the higher the monthly incentives you'll earn. If you select PeakChoice Committed but are unable to meet your agreed upon reduction, some penalties may be incurred.

Incentive Details

Whether a peak demand event occurs or not, your company is entitled to receive guaranteed monthly incentive credits from May to October.

  • Qualified reductions during an event provide additional incentives at a rate of $0.15/kWh.
  • Your electricity reduction will be determined by the difference between a baseline and your actual electricity usage during the event.
  • The baseline is determined by calculating the energy usage of the 10 days prior to the curtailment event day. The previous 10 days will include Monday through Friday and exclude PG&E holidays and event days.
  • You also have an option to elect a “day-of adjustment” to this baseline. The day-of adjustment allows an adjustment to the baseline (up or down) based on your energy usage the morning of the event. The day-of adjustment is based on the first three of the four hours prior to the event and is capped at +/- 20 percent. You may select the day-of adjustment annually during your option election period.
  • On an hourly basis, if the delivered reduction is lower than the amount you committed to, your incentive credits will be adjusted.
  • If you are able to deliver at least 50 percent of your committed amount, you will qualify for an incentive.
  • Penalties are only assessed when you are unable to deliver at least 50 percent of your committed amount, and may result in a net loss.

Special Recognition for Doing Well

When your business volunteers to temporarily reduce electricity consumption during peak demand events, the contributions add up. You're helping to stabilize California's energy system and reducing the need to build new power plants simply to meet occasional peak demand. That's good news for your company, your community and the environment.

In recognition of your contributions, PG&E will feature public service advertisements of PeakChoice participants that delivered demand reductions. You'll also receive promotional materials you can share with your customers to let them know of your PeakChoice contributions.
