Other Important Considerations before Applying for New Construction Services
New Construction Design and Installation Options
As a new applicant for gas or electric service, you are permitted to select either Pacific Gas and Electric Company or your own contractor to design and/or install new gas and electric distribution and service facilities. More information regarding these options are available in our Gas and Electric Rules 15 & 16 and through your local Pacific Gas and Electric Company office. See Applicant Design and Installation Responsibilities for further details.
Environmental
Pacific Gas and Electric Company is committed to complying with all Federal, State and Local environmental laws, regulations and rules. When submitting your application for service, the Applicant must provide PG&E with a copy of permits and specifically identify those conditions which can affect the provision of utility service. See the Applicant Responsibilities Letter (PDF, 19 KB) for more information.
Power Quality and Voltage Stability
You, the utility customer, are responsible for providing any devices to protect any sensitive equipment that cannot operate within the voltage variations of the California Electric Utilities' normal electric service. These variations are listed in Electric Rule 2 on file with the California Public Utilities Commission. The utility is not liable for damage to your equipment or any other damage from variation in service voltage that is allowed under the utilities' respective tariff (Rule 2). See Power Quality for more information.
