Electric Outage Notification
Use this direct and convenient service to alert PG&E about power outages in your service area. Our Electric Outage Notification (EON), provides participants with a phone line-integrated device to automatically detect power failures when they occur and notify PG&E. In addition, the EON system archives outage data and monitors service reliability.
How to Qualify
Business customers may participate in the EON program if the company requires strategic coverage in that particular protective zone or cell. For more information, qualifying customers can call the EON line at 1-800-500-0165, Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Upon qualification, customers must sign and return the Customer Agreement (PDF, 12 KB) to:
Pacific Gas and Electric Company

How it Works
The EON device plugs into a standard electrical outlet and requires only a telephone jack for operation, not an actual phone. The device calls a company toll-free phone number shortly after detecting a power outage and reports one of six outage states. For example:
- A heartbeat
- A power on and off signal
- A momentary or a sustained outage signal
PG&E responds to the outage signals as necessary. The EON device should not interfere with your telephone service. Participating customers need to keep the device continuously plugged in to provide accurate information to the company. The device should not be used in an electrical outlet that is turned on and off by a wall switch (switched outlet).
