Do the Safe Thing

Don’t Fool Around with Gas

  • If you smell a natural gas leak, get everyone out of the house. Do not use a light switch, candle, flashlight, telephone, or even a cell phone, as a spark could ignite the gas. Go to a neighbor that you know, or use a pay phone to call the gas company for help.

  • Because gas appliances use a flame, it’s important to keep books, papers, gasoline, or other flammable materials away from natural gas water heaters and furnaces.
