On days when California’s peak energy demand is high everyone needs to take action. Flex Your Power Now! is an electricity conservation alert system designed to prevent Stage One electrical emergencies, as declared by the California Independent System Operator.
Quick Powering-Down Tips
- Turn off unneeded lights, computers and appliances
- Set thermostat to 78°F or higher when you're home
- Set thermostat to 85°F or off when you're away
- Use major appliances and equipment after 7 p.m.

In the event that power supply or delivery emergencies occur this summer, the public will receive important early-warning information from Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the states other utilities, government, businesses and the mass media.
