Get Plug-in Ready

Owning a Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) is an exciting step towards a greener driving alternative. And with any big purchase, there are a variety of decisions you will need to make. For PEV owners, these may include choosing a charging level and rate option that is best suited for your driving needs and energy use. You may also need to upgrade your home's wiring or the electrical panel used to charge the electric vehicle. Depending on what you decide, it may also be necessary for us to upgrade the infrastructure that delivers electricity to your property. PG&E is dedicated to helping you make a smooth transition to plug-in ready. The following steps will help guide you through the process.

Get Plug-in Ready in 3 Steps

  • Charging Level

Step 1: Select a Charging Level

Just as the size of the gas tank determines how long it will take to fill up with gas, the size of the battery and supply equipment will influence charging time.

  • Select Rate Option

Step 2: Select a Rate Option

PG&E offers two plans for PEV owners to switch with our special E-9 Time-of-Use (TOU) rates. Lower your costs by charging your vehicle during off-peak hours when energy costs less.

  • Step 3: Start the Installation Process

Step 3: Start the Installation Process

You may incur installation costs in order to charge your electric vehicles. The charging level and rate option may influence your total cost.
