California Solar Initiative
The California Solar Initiative (CSI) provides various financial incentives for solar installation on your home or business. Over the next decade, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), through CSI, will provide over $2.1 billion in incentives for existing residential homes and existing (and new) commercial, industrial and agricultural properties.
CSI Background
As part of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Million Solar Roofs Program, California has set a goal to create 3,000 megawatts of new, solar produced electricity by 2017. CSI supports this goal with financial incentives to promote cleaner energy for the state and help lower the cost of solar energy systems for consumers. By installing solar on your home or business, you can benefit from these incentives.
Latest CSI News
- On January 31, 2008, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved Decision (D.) 08-01-030, which removes the requirement that providers of performance monitoring and reporting services (PMRS) be independent and unaffiliated with California Solar Initiative incentive recipients, solar installers, or solar manufacturers. The decision orders the CSI Program Administrators to develop a performance data provider (PDP) protocol for the data reporting between solar energy systems and the Program Administrators that serves as the basis for Performance-Based Incentive (PBI) payments. On February 25, 2008, the Energy Division will convene a workshop in San Francisco to finalize the protocols for PMRS, as discussed in this order. PGE Interim PBI Process (DOC, 46 KB)
