2010 Request for Proposals: ClimateSmart™ Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Projects
PG&E's ClimateSmart™ program is the first-of-its-kind. This voluntary program enables our customers to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) to make their home or office energy use "carbon neutral" through funding the program’s purchase of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions. To date, the ClimateSmart program has secured contracts to purchase GHG emission reductions from seven projects: four forestry, one livestock, and two landfill projects.
The ClimateSmart program is issuing its sixth Request for Proposals to solicit bids (Offers) for GHG emission reductions from systems or activities which reduce or sequester GHG emissions. PG&E is seeking to purchase GHG emission reductions pursuant to GHG emission reduction purchase agreement(s). PG&E seeks Offers to sell up to 194,000 metric tons of VERs towards PG&E's commitment to be in contract for at least 1,360,777 metric tons (1,500,000 short tons).
