Pacific Gas and Electric Company's High Tech Energy Efficiency Program Wins National Achievement In Program Innovation

PHOENIX – Pacific Gas and Electric Company is pleased to announce that the Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) – a member-based association dedicated to improving the delivery and implementation of energy efficiency, energy management and distributed renewable resources – has awarded PG&E’s high tech energy efficiency program its Outstanding Achievement in Program Innovation Award as part of a national awards program to recognize excellence in the energy services field.
PG&E’s high tech energy efficiency program led the nation in capturing energy efficiency opportunities in the high tech industry – an industry that is increasingly focused on reducing energy capacity and use. “This category received a record number of nominations, all peer-reviewed, and PG&E’s nomination was selected for its innovation and effectiveness,” noted Meg Matt, AESP President and CEO.
In addition to receiving this national honor, PG&E’s Program Manager for Demand Side Policy Albert Chiu participated in a panel discussion on Pricing and Demand Response at the 18th Annual National Energy Services Conference. Joining him as a conference participant was PG&E Supervisor of Customer Energy Services Rafael Friedmann, who moderated a panel on Market Research and Evaluation. Bill Miller, principal regulatory analyst for Customer Energy Efficiency at PG&E, accepted PG&E’s National Achievement in Program Innovation Award.

Over the past three decades, PG&E’s 85 distinct residential and commercial energy efficiency programs have helped customers save more than 118 million megawatt-hours of electricity and 10.7 billion therms of natural gas. These joint efforts helped our customers save more than $22 billion in energy costs, while preventing more than 135 million tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
