PG&E and BrightSource Sign Record Solar Power Deal
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) announced today that it has entered into a series of contracts with BrightSource Energy, Inc. for a record total of 1,310 megawatts (MW) of solar thermal power. These power purchase agreements, covering seven projects, supersede the agreements PG&E executed with BrightSource in April 2008 for up to 900 MW of solar thermal power.

Richard H. Peterson, Retired PG&E Board Chairman, Dies
Richard H. Peterson, chairman of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company Board of Directors from 1976 until his retirement in 1979, died on April 19, 2009 in St. Helena, Calif. He was 94.

PG&E and California State Parks Foundation Join Efforts for Earth Day
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is joining the California State Parks Foundation (CSPF) on Saturday, April 25, to celebrate Earth Day and clean up and restore 16 parks in Northern and Central California. PG&E is granting $170,000 to CSPF to help fund these events, and more than 1,000 company employees, retirees and their families are expected to participate in volunteer efforts.

As leaders in the field of energy efficiency, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) today announced a ground breaking program to encourage businesses and consumers to save energy and lower their costs for electricity. For the first time in the United States, utilities, retailers and manufacturers are joining together to help businesses and consumers become more informed about the benefits of purchasing energy-efficient electronic products.
