PG&E and BrightSource Sign Record Solar Power Deal
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) announced today that it has entered into a series of contracts with BrightSource Energy, Inc. for a record total of 1,310 megawatts (MW) of solar thermal power. These power purchase agreements, covering seven projects, supersede the agreements PG&E executed with BrightSource in April 2008 for up to 900 MW of solar thermal power.

Richard H. Peterson, Retired PG&E Board Chairman, Dies
Richard H. Peterson, chairman of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company Board of Directors from 1976 until his retirement in 1979, died on April 19, 2009 in St. Helena, Calif. He was 94.

PG&E and California State Parks Foundation Join Efforts for Earth Day
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is joining the California State Parks Foundation (CSPF) on Saturday, April 25, to celebrate Earth Day and clean up and restore 16 parks in Northern and Central California. PG&E is granting $170,000 to CSPF to help fund these events, and more than 1,000 company employees, retirees and their families are expected to participate in volunteer efforts.

PG&E Issues Statement Supporting New Statewide Fuel Standard
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today issued a statement supporting the decision of the California Air Resources Board (ARB) to adopt a new statewide fuel standard that calls for at least a 10 percent reduction in the carbon intensity of California's transportation fuels by 2020.

PG&E Provides $59 Million in Customer Credits for Winter Gas Savings
To reward customers who successfully took steps to cut their natural gas use last winter, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has begun issuing a total of $59 million in bill credits, an increase of 36 percent over last year’s credits under the utility’s Winter Gas Savings Program.

PG&E Announces New Assignments to Strengthen Energy Supply and Renewable Energy Development Efforts
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today announced the appointment of John T. Conway to head the utility’s newly created Energy Supply organization. Conway now leads PG&E’s previously separate power generation and power procurement functions as Senior Vice President, Energy Supply, and Chief Nuclear Officer. Most recently, Conway served as PG&E’s Senior Vice President, Generation, and Chief Nuclear Officer.

As leaders in the field of energy efficiency, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) today announced a ground breaking program to encourage businesses and consumers to save energy and lower their costs for electricity. For the first time in the United States, utilities, retailers and manufacturers are joining together to help businesses and consumers become more informed about the benefits of purchasing energy-efficient electronic products. In addition to the two utilities, this Business and Consumer Electronics program includes Best Buy, Sears Holding Company, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club and Lenovo.
