Manufactured Gas Plants
Former Colusa Manufactured Gas Plant

PG&E has a voluntary program to investigate and remediate impacts from historical operations at the site of a former manufactured gas plant (MGP) at 105 Second Street in Colusa. The site is now the location of PG&E’s Colusa Service Center. This work is being conducted under the oversight of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC).
Environmental investigations have taken place at the site over the last year and are now complete. Based on data collected from those investigations, PG&E prepared a Human Health Risk Assessment/Feasibility Study/Remedial Action Workplan, which was approved by DTSC in late April 2011. PG&E has also prepared a Remedial Design and Implementation Plan for the project and cleanup work will take place fall 2012 through early 2013.
The former Colusa MGP operated from 1886 to 1940. PG&E acquired the plant in 1906 and operated it until its closure.
