Chemical and Radiation Protection Technician (C&RP Tech)
Responsibilities: A Chemical and Radiation Protection Technician will perform contamination and radiation level surveys, including routine isotopic analysis to assist in assuring that the limits contained in the Company’s radiation control standards are not exceeded, and will maintain survey and other appropriate records in support of the plant and environmental monitoring programs. You will be asked to instruct others in proper radiation protection procedures i.e. equipment handling, packaging, storing and shipping of solid radioactive waste. You will also advise others in operating chemical process equipment and waste disposal facilities.
This position involves the collection of radioactive/non-radioactive liquid and gaseous samples from plant systems to be analyzed for various chemistry parameters. Ensuring that they are maintained within established specifications and regulatory limitations is paramount. Results will be evaluated and followed-up with appropriate system chemistry adjustments and recommendations to plant staff. Individuals in this position will also be responsible for providing implementation, support, and maintenance of laboratory analytical equipment.
Requirements: This is not an entry level position. The following knowledge is required:
- College level algebra or Navy Nuclear Power engineering Laboratory Technician (ELT) School
- College chemistry or Navy Nuclear Power ELT School
- College physics or Physical Science or Biology or Navy Nuclear Power ELT School
- Also, some formal training such as Rockwell or Golnick HP course or Navy Nuclear Power ELT School is required.
- Technicians shall have three years of working experience of which one year should be related technical training.
- Required qualification: ANSI 3.1 1978 Chemistry, ANSI 3.1 1978 Radiation
All candidates will be required to pass a C&RP Technician entrance exam.
Wages start at $36.28 per hour.
