Journey Lineman
Pacific Gas and Electric Company, incorporated in California in 1905, is one of the largest combination natural gas and electric utilities in the United States. Based in San Francisco, the company is a wholly owned subsidiary of PG&E Corporation.
We are currently looking for Journey Linemen in Concord, San Francisco and San Jose.
Journey Linemen maintain our extensive electric transmission and distribution network through ongoing construction and maintenance of overhead and underground lines.
Job Overview
- Journey Linemen learn and follow safety work procedures.
- Climb power poles and towers that are 35 feet to 300 feet-plus high to work on energized lines with tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Enter and exit vaults, trenches and manholes of 31 inches to 39 inches in diameter.
- Act as crew leaders and provide direction to apprentice linemen, utility workers and equipment operators.
- Support the training and development of others and possess the personal qualifications of leadership and integrity.
- Have access to the latest tools and training.
- Receive specialized safety training, including pole-top rescue.
- Work in locations throughout northern and central California in all types of weather and terrain.
- Work 40 hours per week with occasional required overtime and other voluntary overtime opportunities.
Job Requirements
- Background and experience necessary to perform all duties with skill and efficiency.
- Commitment to safety.
- Valid California Class C driver's license.
- Satisfactory completion of a recognized lineman apprenticeship program.
- Qualifying score on Pacific Gas and Electric standard pre-employment test (Physical Test Battery).
- Qualifying score on Lineman skills assessment.
- Satisfactory completion of background investigation and drug screening.
