PowerPathway™—Course Schedule

Initial 2008 training courses will take place at local community colleges in three geographic areas: San Francisco/Oakland, San Mateo/San Jose and Fresno. Courses will cover apprentice lineworker and utility worker positions. Additional pathways into welding, instrument and electrical technician, and mechanic classifications are under development. Types of Courses

PowerPathway courses fall into one of the following categories:

  • Full Bridge (for those with limited or no prior related work experience) 200-300 customized community college credit hours to introduce applicants to the energy industry’s jobs and provide preparation for PG&E's pre-employment tests. Courses are held during normal weekday hours.
  • Intensive Bridge (for those with some related work experience) 100-150 customized community college credit hours. Classes are held in the evening and on weekends to accommodate work schedules and focus specifically on preparation for PG&E's pre-employment tests.
  • Capstone Course (for those with formal related training) 250-300 customized community college credit hours that focus on skills specific to PG&E's needs and is for students who have completed a prerequisite AA or certificate.
