PowerPathway™—Apprenticeship Program

Apprenticeship offers significant advantages:

  • Training to meet the needs of new and emerging trades
  • Courses in industry standards
  • Training to achieve journeyworker status
  • Increased earning power; wages and benefits that can lead to financial independence
  • Motivation and resources for continued education

The company follows an extensive apprentice system for many of its career paths. Apprenticeship training programs provide specialized on-the-job training and related academic training to eligible union-represented employees who wish to become certified in a particular trade. PG&E offers formalized, state-certified apprenticeship training programs for 33 job classifications which can last anywhere from 18 to 42 months. Upon completion of an apprenticeship training program, participants will be fully qualified for certification by the state of California.

PowerPathway courses can qualify candidates to become eligible for employment, and prepare them for possible selection into the PG&E apprenticeship program.

Please Note: Only a limited number of candidates will be admitted into each PowerPathway training course. While participation in a PowerPathway course does not guarantee a job at PG&E, it is PG&E's commitment to consider and evaluate all applicants who successfully complete the course.
